The Power You Can’t Pause

As many of us have now learned, the NAACP Columbus has been ordered by the national office to pause operations until further notice.
This is temporary and the NAACP Columbus branch will be primed to continue our work once an election date is set. It is not a reflection of our strength, our legitimacy, or our readiness. It is a moment of pause, not paralysis. We will not be discouraged nor will we pause the preparations for battle.
We are using this time to sharpen our strategy, fortify our commitment, and deepen our bench. When our time comes, we will be prepared to unite quickly, move boldly, and act with the power and precision this moment requires. We are building a NAACP Columbus that will be more focused, more grounded in collective purpose, and more equipped to fight for and protect Black and Brown communities across this city and beyond.
We’re not slowing down. We’re gearing up. We are still building, because we cannot afford to wait to do the work. This time is too critical and too much is at stake - this moment requires all hands on deck. You can't pause the power or the purpose of the people.
To everyone who has joined a committee or pledged to serve, stay ready. Your leadership is still needed. Your role in this movement is too vital. The structure we are building is designed to last, to grow, and to win across present and future generations.
To anyone who has not yet expressed interest in learning more about our committees and start thinking about how you can lend your talents to the movement, now is the time. Plug in. Be part of the future we are building together.
And if you’ve been waiting to become a member—don’t. Join through the national website here. Member recruitment and retention will always be paramount because membership is power. The Columbus branch is still on its way to becoming the largest and strongest branch in the country as we model revolutionary love and power to the rest of the world.
This movement is bigger than this moment and our time is still now. We are standing in clarity, in community, and in purpose. And we are just getting started.
Stay ready.
