We’re Not Waiting. We’re Building.

Today’s news is frustrating, but power can't be paused and you can't postpone purpose. The election for leadership within the NAACP Columbus - scheduled for April 2nd - has been postponed due to a lawsuit filed by the former president against the national NAACP. While this delay is disappointing, it does nothing to stop the momentum we’ve built or the movement we’re building.
This has never been about titles or individual power. It’s about building collective power to protect and fight for Black and Brown communities, and that mission continues - undeterred. We are still building and preparing to go to battle to protect and advance the rights of Black and Brown people in Columbus and beyond.
To everyone who has joined the NAACP Columbus: stay encouraged. You have joined a movement that is just getting started.
To everyone who has already stepped up and expressed interest in serving on a committee: stay ready. Your leadership will be needed when this election finally takes place and we can get to work.
And in the words of the late, great Nipsey Hussle - let's stay dangerous, together. Our collective power should be viewed as such to those who threaten our collective advancement in this city, in this state, and in this country.
To those who believe in a bold, strategic, people-powered NAACP Columbus: now is the time to get involved. Express your committee interest here.
And to those who haven’t signed up yet - come join the movement. Join the NAACP Columbus today via ColumbusForJustice.com.
We are still building. We are still coming. The work continues. And when our moment comes, we will be ready.
